Sliema Beaches

The Sliema and St Julian's coastline features several rocky beaches, thronged with sunbathers during the summer months. They are popular with people of all ages, due to their easy access and proximity to towns and amenities.
Despite their rocky nature, the beaches do attract families with children, and are also popular with workers on their lunch break, youths enjoying the café culture and tourists from nearby hotels. The clean, safe waters are suitable for swimming and snorkelling. Steps and handrails can be found at regular intervals along the coast, providing easy access to the water.
Favourite beach areas on this part of the coast are the Tigne, Qui si-Sana, Ghar id-Dud, the Exiles and Fond Ghadir. Some are well-known lidos or ‘beach clubs', but all have public access. These rocky beaches are known to become very sociable, lively places during mid-afternoons in high summer.
