Bugibba

Bugibba, Malta
Bugibba, on the north east coast of Malta, is one of the island's most established tourist resorts. Within easy reach of both the airport and the capital Valletta, the town is both accessible and inviting. Extensively developed to provide British holiday makers with a home-from-home, Bugibba has proved to be a popular resort since the 1960's.
Redeveloped in the 1990's the town now features palm-lined avenues, a pedestrianised centre and some attractive public squares lending the area greater appeal. However, while Bugibba may lack the natural beauty of some of the island's other towns it certainly makes up for it on the nightlife front.
The town has the greatest concentration of bars, restaurants, and clubs on the island which gives the town a vibrant, buzzing atmosphere. Although busy all year round Bugibba really comes to life during the busy summer months. The plethora of entertainment venues draws a young crowd but also attracts many tourists to the area.
Evenings see the crowded coastline promenade, which skirts the coast from Salina Bay to St. Paul's bay, host a passeggiata, when local families take a leisurely stroll dressed in their Sunday best and tourists enjoy the friendly vibe whilst taking in some of the best views over the ocean.
The Islet Promenade, Bugibba's main street, follows the rocky coastline past the town's most popular bathing spot. While there are no sandy beaches in the area Bugibba has three small harbours and several pretty coves. Flat rocks make for fantastic sunbathing spots and as platforms for swimming and snorkelling in the deep, clean sea.
The wealth of local history adds to the sightseeing opportunities and, in addition to the town's lidos, the scenic boat trips, and huge range of water sports, ensure that Bugibba really does have something for everyone to enjoy.
