Amier Bay

Armier Bay is to be found in the locality of Mellieha, at the extreme northern fringe of Malta, stretching round the shore of an open bay which faces the nearby islands of Comino and Gozo.
It consists of two sandy beaches divided by a small stretch of rocky coast. The bigger of the two beaches is known simply as ‘Armier' and the smaller ‘Little Armier'. Reminiscent of Comino's Blue Lagoon, its waters are bright blue and crystal clear, and the beach area is pristine.
Water sports are enjoyed here although the bay can be subject to rough swells due to its exposure to north winds. A number of boathouses dot this rural coastline - used by the Maltese as summer residences.
This is a quiet bay in a tranquil, green location, with no traffic noise, hotels or tourist resorts in the immediate vicinity - although there are various kiosks, bars and small restaurants providing the necessary beach facilities.
As well as being an ideal family beach, Armier is a popular spot for picnics and barbecues. Anyone bringing barbecue equipment must ensure that it is freestanding and that the area is left clean for visitors the next day.
For those who prefer peace and quiet, it is advisable to avoid visiting the beach on a Monday, as this is the day that locals tend to descend on the bay for post village feast celebrations. The beach can also get quite hectic on weekends.
