The ninth annual Qormi Bread Festival will take place on Friday the 10th and Saturday the 11th of September outside St Sebastian's Church in Qormi, with a "bigger and better event than those of years gone by" promised, with something to "suit everyone's taste".
Fr Reuben Gauci, the chairperson of the festival and the town's vice-parish priest, said the festival is expected to attract "hundreds of children, couples, tourists and the elderly", and also commented that "attendances for the festival have continued to increase substantially on an annual basis".
The festivities will begin at 7.30pm on both days, placing emphasis upon the traditional Maltese ways of life. A comedy performance will take place, starring popular Maltese comedy group ZOO who will perform sketches acting as characters who live a traditional Maltese life.
Children will be encouraged to take part in traditional Maltese games, such as hopscotch and bocci in a designated children's area.
For those interested in Qormi and the tradition of baking bread, guided tours will be available around the historical places in the village, stopping at every bakery along the way.
Visitors will have the opportunity to buy the Maltese bread and free gifts will be issued to the visitors throughout the two days.
