A brand new heritage trail is being put in place to link the village centre of Munxar with the Periphery of Ta' Sanap, il.Kantra and Xlendi Bay. Virtual tours are also being created to promote the area to tourists, revealed the Department of Information.
The Malta Environment and Planning Authority have obtained permits to restore the underground emergency mill at Xlendi, which will be opened for public viewing in the near future.
This work is just some being carried out with financial assistance from the EU's Rural Development Plan of the European Agricultural Fund, under which the Malta EU Steering Action Committee - Meusac - obtained €2.3million for five local councils in Gozo.
Chris Said - the Justice Minister - and Joseph Sultana - the Mayor - saw the works for themselves when they paid a visit to the area. The councils' plans include recreation parks, a folklore museum, restoration of two chapels and an old bridge.
