In aid of The Malta Community Chest Fund, General Soft Drinks Co Ltd organised a three day event, packed full of entertainment, music and activities at the bottling plant. A total of over 30,000 euros was donated, along with an additional pledge of 10,000 euros.
The event, called GIVE, was organised by the Deputy Prime Minister Tonio Borg and began on Friday the 20th of August at the GSD plant. The manager of The General Soft Drinks, Ms Micallef, was also present who commented, "I would like to sincerely thank all those who have contributed to the success of this event, including our suppliers, sponsors, media, journalists, performers, The Malta Community Chest Fund and all those who attended. It was a challenging project, yet I believe thanks to everyone's support, especially our employees, not only for coming up with the concept of GIVE, however also for all the hours they dedicated on a voluntary basis, we have managed to make this event a success. We are pleased to have collected this considerable sum for The Malta Community Chest Fund".
Friday the 20th was the first time the plant was opened to the general public, and a tour around the plant was on offer, as well as many other activities, such as races around the plant, car and motorbike exhibitions, sports, a children's play area with animators, stilt walkers, bouncy castles, equestrian shows, open-air restaurants and performances by singers, bands and DJs.
GIVE was broadcast on Malta TV over Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening, which gave the viewers the chance to donate money through SMS messages.
