Located on the delightful Vittoriosa Waterfront in Birgu, Del Borgo's Restaurant and Wine Bar has an interesting menu featuring Maltese cuisine with a focus on fresh, local produce.
The restaurant is housed in a glorious old palace which dates back centuries and has recently been sympathetically restored. Retaining its wealth of character the restaurant makes the most of the building's past whilst providing a bright, modern dining space.
Del Borgo's owners aim to provide a simple yet varied menu that brings a contemporary and international slant to the Maltese cuisine and ambience. As owner Alan Mercieca Bons says, "Malta has a heritage of food which we are trying to revive and present with a modern touch". The food is kept uncomplicated but well-made, the emphasis is on going back to the roots of Maltese cooking and producing high quality cuisine from recipes "like mama used to make".
To compliment the delicious menu, the restaurant has taken great care in selecting an extensive wine list of foreign and local wines. Offering a selection of these wines by the glass and half-bottle, as well as hosting regular wine-tasting sessions, has established Del Borgo's as one of the island's leading wine bars.
